'The Chips are Down'
A Guide to Food Policy in Schools

'The Chips are Down' focuses on the delivery of food and nutrition information both for the school curriculum and for the school food service. It provides an opportunity to create a food policy which integrates many aspects of school life and the curriculum.

'The Chips are Down' has been produced jointly by The Health Education Trust and The Design Dimension Educational Trust.

It is based on the pioneering work of Joe Harvey, Director of The Health Education Trust and the development across the United Kingdom of the importance of food policy in schools through the SNAG - School Nutrition Action Groups - concept.

The promotion of a whole school approach to food production has also formed an important part of the Royal Society of Arts - RSA - Focus on Food Campaign, which is directed by the Design Dimension Educational Trust and supported by Waitrose, food shops of the John Lewis Partnership.
